SEA Women’s Leadership Conference: Women, Peace and Security

    WHAT IT IS

A regional platform for women's leadership

The SEA Women’s Leadership Conference: Women, Peace and Security is a regional platform that brings together women leaders, policymakers, practitioners and emerging changemakers from across Southeast Asia. It creates a space to exchange perspectives, build regional connections and strengthen women’s role in shaping the decisions that affect peace, security and the future of our communities.

    WHY IT EXISTS

Bringing women's perspectives to the centre of regional dialogue

Peace is stronger when more voices are brought into the light. Women remain underrepresented in decisions on peace, security and conflict prevention, despite experiencing their consequences in distinct ways.

The conference brings women’s perspectives closer to the centre of regional dialogue, while supporting the wider Women, Peace and Security agenda — including Malaysia’s National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security 2025–2030, which strengthens women’s participation and leadership across peacebuilding, prevention and national security.

    HOW IT WORKS

Regional dialogue, and a network beyond it

Bringing together women leaders from across ASEAN during Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship, the conference creates a regional space to exchange perspectives on women, peace and security. Through keynotes, panels and cross-border dialogue, participants share experiences, build connections and strengthen regional collaboration. The conference also marked the launch of a Regional Women Leaders Network, creating a platform for relationships and cooperation to continue beyond the event. The conversation begins in the room, but its impact travels across borders.

    PARTICIPANT QUOTE

    In their own words

“The conference reminded me that peace and security are not distant policy conversations. They begin with whose experiences are heard, who has a seat at the table, and who gets to shape the decisions that affect our communities.”
